The History of Business in Verwood

Verwood, a town in Dorset, has a business history rooted in its agricultural and industrial past. During the 19th and early 20th centuries, it was known for its thriving pottery and brick-making industries, using local clay to produce domestic and agricultural goods. As the town grew, these traditional crafts gradually gave way to more modern businesses and services. The expansion of transport links and housing developments in the late 20th century transformed Verwood into a commuter town, supporting many small businesses, shops, and local enterprises. Verwood continues to grow today, balancing its historic roots with a diverse business community. Verwood Business and rotary have a long tradition of working together.
