The Verwood Rotary Club has successfully raised £293.69 for Marie Curie, a contribution that will provide vital support for individuals living with terminal illnesses and their families. This donation highlights the club’s ongoing commitment to community service and its ability to mobilise local support for national causes that touch the lives of many in the Dorset area.
The funds raised will be put to immediate use across Marie Curie’s essential services. To put the impact of £293.69 into perspective, it is enough to cover:
- 9 hours of overnight nursing care: A significant portion of this total (approximately £207) can fund a full nine-hour shift for a Marie Curie Nurse to provide expert care in a patient’s home, giving family members the peace of mind to rest.
- Bereavement support: The remaining funds can facilitate multiple sessions of specialist bereavement counseling or support line calls, helping loved ones navigate the emotional challenges of grief.
- Hospice essentials: Alternatively, the donation could fund over 90 patient meals in a Marie Curie hospice or cover the heating costs for a hospice facility for more than two days.
By reaching this total, Verwood Rotary ensures that professional medical care and emotional guidance remain accessible to those at the end of life, ensuring they can spend their final days in comfort and dignity.
