ferndown Blind Club

The Ferndown Blind Club, operated by the Dorset Blind Association, offers a welcoming space for visually impaired individuals in the Ferndown area to connect and socialise.

Meeting every other Tuesday afternoon at the King George V Pavilion, the club provides entertainment, refreshments, and occasional outings, fostering a sense of community and reducing isolation among its members. Dedicated volunteers play a crucial role in organizing activities and providing transportation, ensuring accessibility for all attendees . The club exemplifies the Dorset Blind Association’s commitment to supporting blind and partially sighted people in leading fulfilling lives.

Verwood Rotary supports the club and was pleased to receive a letter from the Chair of the club.

Dear Tim and all at the Verwood Rotary,

Ferndown Blind Club would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to you and your members for both the financial and practical support you have shown us. It really has helped us to continue to reach out to those vulnerable sight impaired and socially isolated members of the local community. We now have a financial cushion where we can also continue to use the Wimborne Dial a Ride service, with the hope that we will in due course be able to recruit more volunteer drivers.

I have to say that over this last year my understanding of The Rotary, what you do and represent has really grown. As a national organisation I believe very little is understood about you and hope that your profile can be raised for future generations to become involved and appreciate just how much you do and what a difference you can make.

Best regards

Annette Tedore
